Pedro Frisneda was a respected journalist and communications professional at City Hall who worked directly with our publications as the Associate Director of Outreach at the NYC Mayor's Office of Ethnic and Community Media where he focused on physical and mental health initiatives. His passing was sudden, untimely, and unexpected. We commend his efforts to connect New York City's myriad of communities where he shared vital  information that has left an indelible mark. He joined the city following a storied career at Impremedia, a leading Spanish media group where he served as Health Editor as well as at El Diario, a publication in his hometown of Venezuela.

Mayor Eric Adams rightly captured Pedro's spirit, “Pedro had an exuberance and love for this city and was an integral part of the City Hall and Department of Health team. He worked tirelessly to connect different communities from across the five boroughs and was always willing to go the extra mile to help his colleagues. He frequently told our team about how proud he was to work for the greatest city in the world after immigrating here from Venezuela."

Pedro leaves behind a  twin brother, Ramón, with whom he attended classes at Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Pedro's passion for his work was evident to all who knew him. He was a bridge-builder, bringing people together and ensuring that everyone's voice was heard. His tireless efforts to inform and uplift communities, especially during challenging times, were truly admirable. His move to New York only further highlighted his remarkable talents and persevering spirit in the spaces of journalism and government communications. Yet, it was his devotion to his entire family, and wide circle of friends that truly exemplified the beauty of his character, shining as an example of how to blend life and work with passion and joy.
