What a sight to behold! This past Tuesday, 12.25.18, YTT held its first of two Father & Son Events. The fathers showed up proud of their sons and eager to learn with them.

At 11:30 am the Menahel, Rabbi Moshe Aharonov welcomed the crowd and inspired them with Divrei Chizuk. Rabbi Yechiel Weiss, the 12th grade Second Seder Rebbe proceeded with an introduction to the learning portion and then the Bet Medrash bloomed into an oasis of Torah learning!

It was truly awesome to see how the bochurim of YTT were learning with their fathers and how the fathers were engaged in the learning and inspired by their sons’ commitment to true Torah learning.

The assembled were then treated to words of Chizuk from the Chief Bukharian Rabbi Harav Yitzchak Yisraeli Shlit”a as well as Reb Moshe Grunhut.

Harav Yisraeli spoke about the greatness in Torah learning. He demonstrated how the Torah is a repository for all the wisdom in the world, including astronomy, and physics. For example, he explained that scientists are debating and searching for life on other planets, while our Torah provided the answer thousands of years ago. Sefer Shoftim records a battle between the Jewish people and their enemies, when Israel’s leader Devorah sings a song upon their miraculous victory. Her song mentions the inhabitants of Meroz which our sages in the Gemarah identify as a star (Megilah 18a).

The Sefer Habris states that if the Gemarah identifies Meroz as a star than the Pasuk in Shoftim must refer to those who live on that star! With this in mind, Harav Yisraeli implored the students and their parents to recognize the superiority of Torah learning. While science relies on external evidence, the Torah teaches us from the Root source of the world. As the Medrash explains, Hashem looked into the Torah as a blueprint before He created the world.

After the Divrei Chizuk, a lavish buffet lunch was served followed by a grand Siyum Mesechet where over 20 Mesechtot were completed by various bochurim in the 9th, 10th & 12th grades! After Kaddish at the Siyum, the Rebbeim, fathers and students broke out into spirited dancing.

Fathers and sons were gifted special Tehilim w/Mincha & Arvit and the event closed with Mincha. We hope to merit the witnessing of the words of the Navi: …..וְהֵשִׁ֤יב לֵב־אָבוֹת֙ עַל־בָּנִ֔ים וְלֵ֥ב בָּנִ֖ים עַל־אֲבוֹתָ֑ם
