Beth Gavriel hosted an uplifting program on Monday, May 13 in conjunction with Yom Hazikaron. Entitled, "A Story of Courage," the Forest Hills lecture featured Jeremy Sofiev, a Bukharian paratrooper in the Israel Defense Force. Sofiev, having just returned from a handful of missions in Gaza, delivered a personal account of fighting against Hamas terrorists. The testimony opened with words of chizuk from Rabbi Israel Itshakov, rav of the shul's youth minyan where Sofiev has davened.
