In the weeks leading up to Pesach, Queens Kimcha D’Pischa, under the leadership of Rabbi Naftali Rosenbaum, served as a vital support system for local families in need. Rabbi Rosenbaum, founder of Dorot and its affiliate programs—including the Chavruta Program and Queens Cheder Moshe Raya Mehemina—has long been a pillar of chesed and leadership within our community.
Rabbi Rosenbaum is widely known for his vision, energy, and tireless dedication to building Torah infrastructure in Queens. As the founder of Dorot, he has spearheaded initiatives that bring learning, support, and growth opportunities to Jews of all ages and backgrounds. His Chavruta Program has paired hundreds of community members in one-on-one Torah study, while Cheder Moshe Raya Mehemina—named after the Rashbi, Moshe Raya Meheimna—provides an authentic, rigorous yeshivah education for boys in the heart of Queens. Rabbi Rosenbaum is also known for his warm, nonjudgmental approach, always working behind the scenes to ensure families retain their dignity while receiving assistance.
His leadership of the Queens Kimcha D’Pischa program is a natural outgrowth of his broader mission: to uplift, unify, and support the Torah-observant community with strength and compassion.
This year, the program once again distributed preloaded Bingo Wholesale Supermarket gift cards to hundreds of verified families. Each gift card ranged in value from several hundred dollars to over $1,000, depending on family size and specific necessity. Every case was individually confirmed by the family’s rav, all of whom are prominent rabbinical leaders in our community.
It is important to note that this initiative supported religious Jewish families throughout Queens, spanning a rich variety of backgrounds, all unified by a shared need and a shared commitment to Torah values.
Organizers chose Bingo Wholesale because it offers excellent value on essential Pesach items. With low prices and a wide selection of kosher-for-Pesach goods, Bingo allowed families to shop confidently and affordably. The gift cards functioned just like cash—with no restrictions and full access to sale pricing. For example, if a dozen eggs were marked at $2.99, that’s exactly what was charged.
To stretch these funds even further, families were encouraged to take advantage of Bingo’s robust pre-Pesach sales, maximizing every dollar of support during Yom Tov preparations.
Every dollar behind this initiative was donated by a group of well-off members of the Bukharian community in Queens, who chose to remain anonymous. Their heartfelt generosity ensured that 100% of the funds went directly toward supporting local families. The funds were transferred directly to Bingo, making each gift card immediately usable. If a card went unused, the benefit did not return to the community but remained with the store—so recipients were urged to use the gift cards with joy, dignity, and gratitude.
As of March 23, shortly before Pesach, Queens Kimcha D’Pischa reached its funding limit. New applicants were still welcome and placed on a waiting list, to be considered if additional funds were secured in time.
The amount of support provided and each family’s eligibility were determined based on individual application data. Prospective recipients can rest assured that all information obtained through this process was treated with the utmost confidentiality and used exclusively for the purpose of administering this program.
