Every so often, a program comes along that doesn’t just make a difference—it changes lives. That’s exactly what Chazaq’s JWave initiative has done for countless Jewish students in public schools across Queens and beyond. Through engaging weekly sessions filled with warmth, Torah, and genuine connection, these children—many of whom had never stepped foot in a shul or opened a siddur—are discovering the beauty and depth of their heritage.
The following messages, written by JWave participants at the close of the school year, speak volumes:
“Thank you for everything, Rabbi. I learned so much from you and enjoyed seeing you every week. I love how you were able to teach my dad so many years ago and now teach me.”
“Thank you, Rabbi, for everything you do for us. Your speeches have taught me only the best, and you make feeling Jewish such a great blessing. See you next year!”
“Thank you for all the amazing stories and food. Because of you, I keep Shabbat now.”
– Aaron J.
“Thank you so much for all of your effort and time you put to help all of us learn. It's all very appreciated. Wednesdays, I looked forward to for this reason. Your patience is unmatched!”
These words are more than just thank-you notes—they are evidence of neshamot being touched, of identity being kindled, and of a generation reconnecting with its roots through Torah and love.
Chazaq’s JWave program continues to offer a lifeline to Jewish students in the public school system, providing them with Torah learning, meaningful friendships, and a path toward kedushah and pride in being Jewish.
When a student writes, “Because of you, I keep Shabbat now,” it’s not just a milestone—it’s a legacy.
