Chazaq was proud to help co-host a beautiful and uplifting Challah Bake at the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills as part of The Shabbat Project. The event drew a warm and enthusiastic crowd of women from across Queens, all coming together to elevate their Shabbat experience.

The room buzzed with excitement from the moment participants arrived. Tables were set with ingredients and mixing bowls, and the comfortable, friendly atmosphere made it easy for everyone to settle in. Women of all ages gathered around the tables, ready to knead, braid, and connect.

Rebbetzin Gitty Hecht led the evening with her signature warmth and encouragement. As she guided the group through each step of preparing the dough, she shared meaningful reflections on the mitzvah of challah and the power of bringing more light and intention into our homes. The combination of hands-on activity and heartfelt inspiration created a truly memorable experience.

Throughout the night, the focus was on connection — to the mitzvah, to Shabbat, and to one another. Participants exchanged tips, shared smiles, and paused for private tefilot as they shaped their loaves. By the end of the program, the room felt united in purpose, each woman leaving with beautifully braided challahs and a renewed appreciation for the gift of Shabbos.

Chazaq extends a sincere thank you to our partners — Project Inspire, Emet, and QJCC — whose collaboration helped make this event such a success and to Queens Shmira for providing public safety. It was a meaningful evening of community, inspiration, and preparation for the holiest day of the week.
