In a moving display of Torah leadership and unity, the Chief Rabbi of the Bukharian community in the United States and Canada, Rav Yitzchak Yisraeli, delivered an in-depth hilchot Shabbat shiur on a recent Sunday at the Beth Gavriel Community Center. The event drew together Bukharian rabbanim from across the community, reflecting the deep respect held for Rav Yisraeli’s guidance and scholarship.
Rav Yisraeli, a renowned posek celebrated for his clarity and depth in halachah, led the attendees through complex hilchot Shabbat topics with precision and warmth. During the session, he also distributed a newly authored responsa pamphlet, published in honor of the 12th azkarah of Maran HaRav Ovadia Yosef ztk"l, whose influence continues to shape the Sephardic and Bukharian world.
Following the shiur, rabbanim participated in a focused Q&A session, presenting real-life halachic challenges drawn from their day-to-day communal responsibilities. Rav Yisraeli responded thoughtfully to each question, offering both practical guidance and broader perspective grounded in halachic principles.
The gathering also featured brief but uplifting remarks from Rabbi Eran Gohari mara d'atra at Congregation Od Yosef Chai and Rabbi Maor Bendel, each emphasizing Maran Ovadia Yosef’s enduring legacy and the responsibility of today’s rabbanim to continue strengthening Torah and mesorah within the Bukharian community.
Special thanks are extended to the dedicated Chazaq team for coordinating this impactful gathering and for their ongoing work to elevate Torah, education, and unity throughout the community.
