Yeshiva Sha’arei Zion’s fifth-grade students are sharpening their reading skills through thoughtful literary analysis. In class, they are examining how setting, character development, and an author’s precise word choice combine to shape the mood of a story. Through careful close reading, lively discussion, and collaborative interpretation, students are learning to notice how descriptive language, actions, and surroundings influence the emotions a reader feels. The lesson is deepening their understanding of literature while strengthening critical thinking and textual awareness.
