Yeshiva Sha’arei Zion Girls High School recently welcomed Rebbetzin Dr. Yardana Hodkin, Clinical Assistant Professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, to speak with the 11th grade Tzohar class.

In a thoughtful and engaging presentation, Dr. Hodkin addressed topics deeply relevant to today’s teenagers, including self-image, the influence of social media, and the importance of cultivating a strong and authentic inner identity. Drawing from her clinical experience, she helped students understand how constant comparison and external validation can shape perception—and how developing genuine internal strength allows for healthier confidence and emotional resilience.

The discussion encouraged the girls to think critically about the messages they absorb daily and to consider how to build a sense of self rooted in values, purpose, and self-awareness rather than outside approval. Students were given practical insight into navigating digital spaces responsibly while protecting their emotional well-being.

The session provided a meaningful opportunity for reflection and growth, equipping the 11th grade Tzohar class with tools to strengthen their internal foundation and approach modern challenges with clarity and confidence.
