The tantalizing aroma of authentic cultural cuisine took over the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates on Sunday, May 17, as renowned food influencer Ruhama Shitrit took center stage. Hosted by Chazaq and QJCC, the highly anticipated evening drew hundreds of local women for a sold-out showcase of food, music, and community connection.

Emcee Victoria Zirkiev kicked things off, welcoming the massive crowd to the 188th Street shul. Up front, Shitrit commanded a pristine demonstration kitchen. To guarantee there wasn't a bad seat in the house, a professional multi-camera crew beamed every chop, dice, and sizzle onto massive dual screens, while DJ Reuven provided an upbeat, energetic soundtrack.

Sporting her signature navy "WOW" apron, Shitrit brought her viral recipes to life. She effortlessly worked with fresh, simple ingredients, walking the audience step-by-step through her cooking process. But the highlight of the night wasn't just what was happening up on stage. Ditching the prep table, Shitrit frequently walked right down the center aisle to show off her finished creations—including a brilliantly colorful, oversized salad. The room erupted in cheers as fans leaned in, smartphones raised, to capture the perfect shot of the chef and her culinary handiwork.

For those looking for an extra touch of exclusivity, the festivities began at 6:30 p.m. with a VIP experience featuring a private dinner, priority seating, and a one-on-one photo op with Ruhama.

Supported in part by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs alongside Council Member James F. Gennaro, the event was a masterclass in bringing women of the community together. The program far surpassed a cooking demo becoming a vibrant celebration of flavor and neighborhood pride that left guests hungry for more.
