The Chaverim of Queens Members Appreciation Dinner, celebrating a decade of service to the Queens community, was held this past Wednesday night in Kew Gardens Hills at the Yeshiva of Central Queens. Chaverim of Queens was founded in memory of Mr. Jack Friedman, who was synonymous with tz’dakah and chesed and whose name lives on with the work that
Chaverim does.

Chaverim is a 100-percent volunteer organization that started in January 2008 with just ten volunteers. Chaverim now has over a hundred volunteers who respond to a few thousand calls per year.

The dinner was held to show appreciation for the volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis to assist the Queens community.

At the dinner, Avigdor Cyperstein, Supervising Coordinator and co-founder of Chaverim, thanked the Friedman, Fried, and Mermelstein families for their ongoing support to Chaverim. Thanks to their dedication, the volunteers of Chaverim can continue doing what they do best, helping others in need.

Aaron Cyperstein, Esq., President of COQ, acknowledged the participation of Assemblyman Dan Rosenthal and Captain Courtney Nilan of the 102nd Precinct, and of Rabbi Daniel Pollack, Special Assistant to Congresswoman Grace Meng, and thanked them for their assistance to the organization. All stated that it was really uplifting to see young volunteerism.

The volunteers enjoyed a sumptuous buffet dinner at the Yeshiva of Central Queens, sponsored by YCQ, Burger Plus, Seasons, Soysauce, East Coast Auto, and RCA Ambulance.
