On Thursday, December 12, the 11th and 12th grades of Yeshiva Tiferet Tzion embarked on an exciting journey to Philadelphia to visit the z'kan roshei yeshivahs and one of the great gedolim of our time, HaRav Shmuel Kamenetzky, shlit"a. Rav Shmuel, as he is affectionately known, exemplifies a true ohev Yisrael, radiating warmth and love with his always pleasant and welcoming demeanor, especially toward bnei haYeshivah.
The group was joined by Rabbi Moshe Aharonov, menahel of Yeshiva Tiferet Tzion, who fondly reminisced with Rav Shmuel about their many shared interactions over the years. Rav Shmuel’s connection to the yeshivah is longstanding, having visited Yeshiva Tiferet Tzion in person on multiple occasions, meeting with bochurim and alumni.
During the visit, the bochurim were thrilled to meet Rav Shmuel in his home, where they were personally welcomed and strengthened by his wisdom and warmth. They also had the privilege of visiting the Philadelphia Yeshiva, joining the talmidim there for minchah. Each bochur received a personal brachah from Rav Shmuel, leaving his presence inspired and uplifted.
In keeping with Rav Shmuel’s guidance from YTT’s last visit—when the rav encouraged the hanhalah to ensure that the bochurim have some “fun” on their trip—the yeshivah incorporated a stop at K1 Speed for go-karting. The excitement was enhanced by the generosity of a former talmid of Rabbi Aharonov, Eli Etgar, who arranged a full lunch spread from his Philadelphia-based eatery, Slices and Rolls. Eli even sent along sushi rolls for the ride home, adding a special touch to the day.
Upon returning to yeshivah, the bochurim’s energy and inspiration carried into the evening. Many chose to stay for a spirited kumzitz with their rebbeim, joined by other rebbeim who had been awaiting their arrival. The kumzitz was complemented by a hot dinner generously provided in honor of the yahrzeit of the Bas Ayin, further enhancing the warmth and camaraderie of the evening.
The yeshivah extends its deepest gratitude to HaKadosh Baruch Hu and His many messengers for continuing to provide both the physical and spiritual resources to enable YTT to fulfill its vital role—alongside the other great mosdot of Queens—in building klal Yisrael.
