This past Thursday, the 12th grade of YTT earned a special and inspiring trip to Flatbush, Brooklyn to visit Yeshiva Chaim Berlin. This memorable visit included meetings with its esteemed and veteran menahel, HaRav Michel Guzik, shlit"a, and one of its beloved rebbeim, HaRav Eli Fruchthandler, shlit"a.
The trip was a well-deserved reward for the students' impressive accomplishment: completing 50 consecutive days of detailed gemara notes summarizing their rebbe’s daily shiurim on Mesechet Bava Batra, delivered by HaRav Shimon Shain, shlit"a. This consistent dedication to learning reflects the students’ commitment to growth in Torah and personal development.
HaRav Guzik warmly welcomed the group and shared poignant reflections on his own experiences during his formative years in yeshiva. He infused the students with a renewed appreciation for the importance of lifelong Torah learning and Yiddishkeit. He graciously devoted time to engage the bochurim in an open discussion about life, learning, and the values of yeshivah life, leaving them with profound lessons they will carry forward.
The students were then greeted by HaRav Eli, as he is affectionately known, who shared his personal journey of becoming a devoted Ben Torah and a beloved rebbe to countless talmidim. His heartfelt words and relatable insights deeply resonated with the group, demonstrating his genuine care and love for each bochur.
The warmth and sincerity of both Rav Guzik and Rav Eli left a lasting impression on the students, providing inspiration and encouragement that will undoubtedly remain with them for years to come.
After the uplifting visits, the group enjoyed a nostalgic lunch at the iconic Chap-A-Nosh on Avenue M, a Brooklyn staple for generations. They then returned to yeshivah for minchah and resumed their day, which concluded with mishmar and arvit.
The yeshivah expresses its deep gratitude to Yeshiva Chaim Berlin, its hanhalah, and staff for their gracious hospitality and for the decades-long relationship between the two institutions. Yeshiva Chaim Berlin continues to be a beacon of light for American Jewry and klal Yisrael worldwide, and it is an honor for the young men to have gotten a glimpse into the kedushah.
