Last week, Yeshiva Darchei Torah welcomed home one of its most celebrated alumni as world-renowned Daf Yomi maggid shiur R’ Eli Stefansky visited his childhood yeshivah for the first time in 44 years. The occasion brought together past and present in a moment that left talmidim and staff inspired.

Reb Eli addressed the middle school students after being warmly introduced by the Rosh HaYeshivah, Rav Yaakov Bender, who spoke with pride about a former talmid whose Torah now reaches the entire world. With sincerity and energy, Reb Eli shared memories from his years in Darchei Torah, reflections on his personal journey, and the lessons that shaped him into the maggid shiur he is today.

A particularly moving highlight came when Reb Eli showed the boys a photo of his 1979 first-grade class, led by his beloved rebbi, Rav Moshe Mandel—who, remarkably, continues to teach first grade at Darchei Torah to this very day. Moments later, Reb Eli entered Rav Mandel’s classroom, where rebbi and talmid shared a heartfelt reunion. The two reminisced, laughed, and reflected on decades of learning and growth, offering the students a powerful demonstration of the lifelong bond between a rebbi and his talmid.

Today, Rabbi Stefansky delivers two Daf Yomi shiurim daily from Ramat Beit Shemesh, reaching an extraordinary 45,000 participants worldwide. His dedication, clarity, and infectious enthusiasm have transformed the learning of thousands and brought renewed energy to Limud HaTorah across the globe.

Reb Eli’s visit to Darchei Torah served as a living reminder of the enduring impact of early chinuch and the incredible places a life built on Torah can lead.
